Qingdao West Station is located in Qingdao’s West Coast New Area. With a total floor area of approximately 60,000 square meters, it began operations at the end of 2018 and is one of Qingdao’s four major high-speed rail terminals. The station building’s façade draws design inspiration from “waves surging in the ocean,” expressing the unique beauty of this maritime city through fluid architectural curves and layered white forms resembling “wave crests.” To complement this design, the project extensively utilized white fluorocarbon-coated aluminum panels: the exterior curtain wall combines simple square and rectangular aluminum panels to create a undulating wave-like form; the ceiling of the waiting hall features striped white aluminum panels arranged to form a layered “crest” motif, creating a transparent and modern visual effect. The aluminum panel system, in conjunction with glass curtain walls and stone materials, forms the building’s exterior envelope, resulting in an overall design of grand scale and majestic presence.
